Edward Louis Karriem, 41, of Little Rock, departed from us on February 13, 2021. He was born November 17, 1979 in Memphis, Tennessee to Victoria Atkins and Edward Abdul El Karriem. He joined the Little Rock Fire Department in 2004 where he dedicated himself to working up the ranks to Battalion Chief. He was also a mentor who helped others get promoted. He occasionally worked at FedEx.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Abdul El Karriem, and his grandmother, Bernice Taylor, of Memphis. He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Denise L. Karriem; his mother, Victoria Karriem-Ray of Memphis; four daughters, Kennedy, Kensley, Kensington and Kaylor Karriem; stepsons, Jurod Jacobs (Jaiden) and Reginald Range; siblings, Joshua Karriem (Rebecca) and Akeem Ray, both of Little Rock, and Sasha Ray of Atlanta, Georgia; nephew, Joshua (Deuce) Karriem; nieces, Jurnee Karriem and Halo Ray; and aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 25 from 5-8 p.m. at Smith Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct., Little Rock. His funeral service will be Friday, February 26 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Rock Creek, 11500 W. 36th St., Little Rock, 72211, which will be live-streamed on the church’s website. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, February 27 at 10:00 a.m. at N.J. Ford and Sons Funeral Home, 12 S. Parkway W., Memphis, TN 38109, with burial to follow.
