Edward “Ed” Jones, age 74, of Hot Springs, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2023.
He was born on December 6, 1948, in Hot Springs, the son of Thomas Franklin Jones and Louise Green Jones. On July 9, 1990, he married Penelope Fox. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son and daughter-in-law, Frankie and Renee Jones; one daughter Jennifer Jones; and one brother, Alen Hildreth.
Ed was a Christian and attended Leonard Street Baptist Church. He was the owner/operator of Ed Jones Salvage. He loved bass fishing on Lake Ouachita and Lake Hamilton, especially in tournaments. He liked to travel, driving out west. He liked going to the casinos, playing the tables and the slot machines.
He was known as “Poppy” with the family, and his family meant the world to him. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Ed was a very outgoing person, never meeting a stranger, making friends wherever he went. He and Penelope were host for thirteen foreign exchange students. While he enjoyed having all of them in their home, he had three favorites, Chegong, Ningxin and Anna. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Penelope Jones; four children and spouses, Michelle Heinz and Raven, Allen Jones and Crystal, Amanda Ellison and Devon, and Jennifer McMahan and Ryan; nine grandchildren, Ashley House, Dalton House, Chyanne Love, Alexis (Tyler) Graves, Abby McMahan, Hayden Whiley, Harrison McMahan; Aiden Jones, and Saylor McMahan; two great-grandchild, Delilah and Braxton; extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00PM, Tuesday, January 10, 2023, with Bro. Russel Mace officiating in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs.
Interment will be in the Patton-Jones Cemetery.
Visitation will be 1:00PM-2:00PM, prior to the service.
Pallbearers are Devin Harrison, Aiden Jones, Dalton House, Ryan McMahan, and Hayden Whiley, Tyler Graves, Harrison McMahan and Thomas Jones.
Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Murders, Dr. Ferdinand Roda, Nurse Teresa, Bonnie Johnston and Andy Whiley.
