Edward R. Dorhan Sr., 94, of North Little Rock, AR, gained his wings on August 3, 2024, after a long and healthy life.
Edward R. Dorhan Sr., was born on January 21, 1930, to Linwood Dorhan and Eudora (Leonard) Gentry in Little Rock, AR. Edward was proceeded in death by his parents Linwood Dorhan and Eudura L. Gentry, wife Norma Dorhan, and sons Edward R. Dorhan Jr., and Norman A. Dorhan Sr.
Edward had five brothers; Leonard Owens Sr, Charles Leandra Dorhan, Linwood Dorhan, Henry Gentry and two sisters Rosie Lee Owens-Blackwell, Margret Dorhan. He attended and graduated from the Pulaski County Training School in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Upon graduation, Edward enlisted into the United States Army to serve his country in its fight against the spread of communism in Korea. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Edward began his working career at Edward Hines Jr. V.A. Hospital, in Hines, Illinois.
On November 17, 1955, Edward married Norma L. Parker of North Little Rock, AR. From this union of Edward and Norma produced four sons; Edward Dorhan Jr., Norman A. Dorhan, Vernon B. Dorhan, and Marlon S. Dorhan.
In 1971, Edward’s job transferred to Fort Roots V. A. Hospital in North Little Rock, AR, where he worked until he retired in 1996, with over 45 years of Federal Government service. After retiring, Edward spent most of his time enjoying estate and yard selling, attending church, and spending time with his family.
Left to cherish his memory is his brother, Charles Leandra Dorhan, sons Michael Dennis, Vernon B. Dorhan, and Marlon S. Dorhan. Grandchildren Jakori Dorhan, Chareda Dorhan, Rachel Poe, Carletta Miller, and Norman A. Dorhan Jr., great-grand-children, and great-great-grand-children, along with a host of family and friends.
