Edward Pullen Carter of Hollywood passed from this life on Friday, April 6, 2007. He was born February 6, 1935 in Hollywood to Frank and Ruth Pullen Carter. Ed is retired from the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department where he had many life long friends. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, having served two years in Germany.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Gerry Collins Carter. Three daughters: Terri Crawley and her husband Jimmy of Gurdon, Melinda Long and her husband Donnie of Athens, Alabama, Michelle Smith and her husband Terry of Bismarck, and one son, Michael Carter of Shreveport, Louisiana. He had six grandchildren, Marc and Krista Crawley of Gurdon; April Long of Madison, Alabama; Lizzie Carter of Shreveport, La; Sarah and Chase Smith of Bismarck, two great-grandchildren, Blaise and Gracie Long of Madison, AL. The family would like to acknowledge his life long friend Bill Callaway of Hollywood, AR.
Pallbearers will be Billy Karber, John Bradshaw, Carley Bledsoe Jr., Tinker Hughes, Cliff Cox, and Bobby Helms. Honorary Pallbearers include Bobby Dale Reddin, Dallas Smith, Robert Watson, and employees of the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department, Johnny West and Ronnie Stephenson.
Funeral Services will be Monday, April 9th, at 3:00 P.M. at the Hollywood Baptist Church in Hollywood, AR. Pastor Jonathan Malone will officiate the service assisted by Rev. Larry Bloomfield, and Brother Marc Crawley. Visitation will be Sunday, April 8Th, from 2 - 5 P.M. at the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Hollywood Cemetery fund, c/o Keylon Jackson, 5781 Hwy 53 N, Arkadelphia, AR, 71923.
