Edna Neldeane Moore, 88, of Little Rock, went to be with her Savior on February 17, 2010. She was born in Bellville, Arkansas on May 28, 1921 but grew up in Havana, Arkansas.
She retired as a school teacher after teaching 42 years. Her teaching career started when Neldeane Moore moved to North Little Rock to look for a teaching job. She began her career teaching at Hensley Arkansas, after two years she moved to Badgett Elementary for ten years, next to Oakhurst Elementary where she taught for 20 years. Her final move was to Romine and Woodruff Elementary as a librarian.
She had many former students who kept in touch with her over the years. She received a Who's Who Among American's Teachers nomination in 2002 from a former student. This student wrote "Because of your ability and dedication, you have made a significant impact and difference in the lives of your students." She also received a My Favorite Teacher nomination from a former student. Neldeane Moore was a wonderful teacher who taught her students to love and respect her through her compassion and use of humor. She loved art and made every child think they were real artist. She also had several students who would come and take her out to eat, cut her hair, or just visit with her. Even though Neldeane Moore never had any children of her own she enjoyed the love and affection of many children through out her life. One students stated, " Miss Moore touched little lives one at a time for 42 years and changed them forever."
After retiring she spent much of her time serving others. She volunteered with many organizations. She was a greeter at Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock and active in the Arkansas Retired Teachers Organization. She served as the piano player for many activities. Neldeane was always known for her sense of humor. When you saw her she always had a new joke to tell. This attitude always made her the life of the party. There was never a dull moment when Neldeane was around, and she created many wonderful memories for those who loved and respected her.
Neldeane traveled often after retiring. Her most exciting trip though was to Washington D.C. for the inauguration of President Bill Clinton.
Neldeane was devoted to her mother, affectionately known as "Miss Edna", who lived with her until her death in 1984.
