Edith Carlson

Edith Deloris Carlson, 84, passed away November 29, 2021.

Edith “Big Mama” Carlson-Glidewell was born October 12, 1937 in Dearborn Michigan to Syble and Winfred Dortch.  Edith and her mother returned to Arkansas early in Edith’s life where she gained a stepdad and two stepsisters.

In 1955 Edith married her first love John “Big John” Glidewell.  John passed away in February 1981.

In 1985 she married her second love, Donald “Doc” Carlson.  Don passed away in September 2010.

Edith was full of spirit and had many friends that she made throughout her life.  She loved her family, fishing and animals, especially her cat fidget.  She loved crocheting, making quilts, embroidering, and sewing, but her favorite thing was visiting with family and friends.

Edith was preceded in death by her husbands, John “Big John” Glidewell and Donald “DOC” Carlson, stepdaughter Josephine Englund, Mother Syble Wade, Father Winfred Dortch, Stepfather John Wade, Stepsisters Rosia Ann Grimmett and Deloris Orender.

She is survived by her children John (Diana) Glidewell and Deloris “Lesha” (Wayne) Johnson and her stepchildren Sonja Anthony, Signe (Frank) Koukol, Donald (Joyce) Carlson, Amy (Bud) Baumann, Pamela (Terry) Walstad, Lori (Frank) Lesperance. 24 grandchildren, and numerous grandkids.

Visitation will be December 8, 2021 at 10:00 AM, Funeral will follow at 11:00 AM.  Burial will be determined at a later date.
