Edgar Merlin Harris Sr., age 81, of Alpine died Wednesday, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Hot Springs. He was born July 12, 1926 in Swampers, LA, the son of Sim Edgar and Minnie Mae Sturdivant Harris.
He was a retired oil field worker from Halliburton Oil Co. and a veteran of WWII, serving under General Douglas McArthur in the Philippines.
Survivors include his wife Maxine Opal Evans Harris; two sons, Edgar Merlin Harris Jr. of Waco, TX, Danny Michael Harris of Laurel, MS; two daughters, Debbie McElveen Of Waco, TX, and Cindy Walker Of Laurel, MS; one sister, Beulah Leona Ledell of Baton Rouge, LA; five grandchildren; and three great grand children.
Funeral Services will be 10 AM Friday, March 23, 2007 in the Ruggles-Wilcox Chapel with Bro. Richard Price, pastor of the First United Pentecostal Church, officiating.
Visitation will be 5-7 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be 1:00 PM Saturday, March 24, 2007 in the Harris Cemetery near Crowville, LA with Rev. Kelly Clark officiating.
