Edgar (Rick) Richard Girdner III, 59, of Oklahoma City passed away on Friday, February 29th, 2008, and is now in the kingdom of his heavenly Father. He was born in New Orleans on September 13th 1948, the son of Edgar Richard Girdner Jr. and Delores Patnode Girdner. He died in Little Rock, Arkansas due to complications while undergoing treatment for Multiple Myeloma. He was a very generous and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, brother-in-law and friend.
Rick was a charter member of Saint Andrews United Methodist Church in south Oklahoma City. He was an active volunteer for Skyline Urban Ministries, VIM, Whiz Kids, and the Blazers Booster Club. Every Christmas, Rick would celebrate the birth of Jesus by dressing up and playing Santa Claus for the children of his friends and other church members. Rick enjoyed bowling, golf, going to the lake, traveling in his RV, Blazers hockey games, NASCAR, Mission Trips, playing guitar, and helping others. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. Rick was always trying to serve the Lord and the needs of others. He loved his work at Drive Train Specialists, especially visiting with all of his customers. We will miss him deeply, but the family and friends will take comfort in the many years of stories and memories he left behind.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents. Rick will be greatly missed by his wife Jan, daughter Deena, sons Eric and Ryan; six loving brothers and sisters: Lori and husband John of Irving, TX, Jim and wife Ethel of Siloam Springs, AR, Melody and husband Jeff of Tustin, CA, Melinda of Aransas Pass, TX, Gary and wife Patti of Choctaw, OK, and Julie of Irving, TX; six beautiful grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved Uncle Rick.
