E.C. (Elry Clay) Logan

E.C. (Elry Clay) Logan, age 73, of Glenwood, ran into the arms of Jesus surrounded by family Monday, May 1st, 2023.

He was born April 25th, 1950, in Glenwood, AR the son of ME Logan and Floyce Jean Cox Logan. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Birdie Jean Robertson and one granddaughter Ashton Nicole Buck.

On June 29th 1974 he married Wanda Mitchell. He was a faithful member of Lodi Freewill Baptist Church where he enjoyed ministering through music with his steel guitar.

He was a mechanic by trade learning along side his dad in his early teens and taking his curiosity and ingenuity to perfect his trade through the years.  He served the community in Glenwood at Wisener’s Chevrolet, Friendly Ford, Glenwood Equipment and over 30 years with his own business Logan’s Automotive. He was often the mechanic other mechanics sent customers to when the issue couldn’t be found. He worked on all makes and models but there was a time when work on a Ford might cost you more than a Chevrolet…..I heard.

His curiosity and perfectionism only benefited him when he got the music bug, or the bug got him.  What started out with a flat top or base guitar and dobro led to the most difficult instrument there is to play the Peddle Steel Guitar. It’s like with cars he had to not only know how but why so not only did he learn to play and play extremely well, but rebuild them, tune them make the old new again, and function better than new. His greatest joy was playing gospel hymns in church, he believed that’s where God meant for him to use his gift.

His faith never wavered through his illness, he believed in the power of prayer and God was worthy of praise.

He is survived by his wife Wanda Logan of Glenwood; daughters Terisa Hughes (Tommy) of Glenwood, Christina Richard (Robert) of Kirby, stepson Stan Mitchell (Della) Alexander; grandchildren, Garrett Subin, Colby Buck (Mikaila), Makayla Buck, Cynthia Miller, Tina Richard, Bobby Richard; step-grandchildren Jon Mitchell and Josh Mitchell; five great-grandchildren and one on the way; his sisters Joyce Robertson (Jerry) Anne Garton ( Larry); and a host of family friends, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 4th at 2:00 PM at Lodi Free Will Baptist Church with Bro. Ron Parker officiating. Interment will be in Lodi Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 3rd at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, 209 North Third Street, Glenwood, AR 71943.
