Dwight "Doug" Douglas Williams, Sr., 64, of Benton, AR, formally of Glenwood, passed from this life on Monday, January 15, 2024.
Doug was born April 19, 1959 in Baltimore, Maryland. After moving to Arkansas, and settling in Glenwood in 1992, Doug worked in several different fields before landing in the Heating and Air profession. He graduated from National Park College in May of 2013 with his HVAC certification, and he loved this line of work. Doug was a proud member of the Glenwood Volunteer Fire Department. He served as a truck Captain, a medical first responder and a training officer. He truly loved his time on the department and he retired with more than 20 years of service under his belt. He loved being outdoors, being with his kids and taking pictures of his grandkids at their various activities. His grandkids were his life, they meant everything to him.
Doug was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, BeBop & Bobo Leonard and Ma & Pop Williams, his mother, Mary Williams, his brother Russell Williams and his sisters Debbie Mercer and Terry Canapp.
Doug leaves to cherish his memory, 5 children and their spouses, DJ and Melissa Williams of Glenwood, Annette and Rick Taylor of Malvern, David Williams and David Hodge of Sherwood, Crystal and Sean Bandy of Benton and Elizabeth and Wade Althen of Alexander, his 6 beloved grandchildren, Grayson, Christian, Benjamin, Landon, Hailey and Kenzie, and 1 great-grand daughter, Kensley, 1 brother, Dana Williams and 1 sister, Kimberly Williams, both from Maryland. Doug is also survived by his former wife & the mother of his children, Irene Williams, a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and many friends.
A memorial service for Doug will be held at 10am, Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood.
