Dura (Tidwell) Cook, 88, of McRae, Arkansas, was born July 23, 1923 in McRae, and she passed on to be with the Lord May 1, 2012. A lifelong citizen of McRae, she was known as Meemaw to many young ladies. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of McRae.
Dura was preceded in death by her two sons, Billy Rex and Bobby Ray Cook; her father and mother, George and Bessie Tidwell; her brother, Raymond B. Tidwell; and her sister, Williemae Lavender.
She is survived by two brothers, Neil (Wanda) Tidwell and Lonnie (Lela) Tidwell of McRae; two sisters, Rose (W. J.) Leak of Beebe and Pat Bradbery of Houston, Texas; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Bobby Cook; grandson, Bobby Rex Cook of Arlington, Texas; five granddaughters, Connie (Tommy) Stringfellow, Roxane (Chesley) Shephard, Bobbie Hankins, Dana (Neil) Waters and Pam (Jason) Fitcher; eight great-grandsons and seven great-granddaughters.
Family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Thursday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 4, 2012, at McRae First Baptist Church, with burial in Weir Cemetery.
