Doyne L. Plummer, age 80, of Cabot passed away Friday, May 27, 2016. He was born in the
Oak Grove community to William Porter and Annie Elizabeth (Burkhead) Plummer on
September 22, 1935.
He was valedictorian of the Cabot High School Class of 1953. Doyne attended the University of
Arkansas at Little Rock where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Business AdministrationI
Minors English and Economics. He also attended Arkansas State University at Beebe with an
Associates Degree in Business.
Doyne proudly served in the Air National Guard from 1953 to 1960. During his military stint he
served as a Personnel Technician, Acting First Sergeant, and Crypto Unit Supervisor but his
most memorable, time while he served, was being activated during the Little Rock Nine Crisis.
He retired from the Internal Revenue Service in 1990 after serving the Federal Government for
30 years. During his time with the IRS he served as a Revenue Office, Management Analyst,
Chief, Collection and Taxpayer Service Division and Chief, of Quality Management.
After retiring, Doyne became a Quality Management Consultant and was contracted to advise
and train the 189 Airlift Group of the Arkansas Air National Guard, Arkansas Small Business
Development Center and others.
While Doyne's career achievements are plentiful, the Gospel of Jesus Christ was the passion
that fueled his life. He loved his wife sacrificially as Christ loved the church and sought to raise
his children and influence his grandchildren in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
He loved Christ's church. He served wherever needed, from Christian Education to Deacon to
Trustee, always for the benefit of others without thought for self.
He lived that other might know Christ, giving his retirement to global missions. With the
Southern Baptist convention and later through ministry at Faith Baptist Church, he shared the
Gospel and encouraged Christians from Cabot to Berlin, Brasov, Brazil and Guatemala. From
1994 to 1997 Doyne served as Coordinator between Arkansas Southern Baptist and European
Baptist Convention.
While sorely missed, through family, church, and countless unknown others near and far, his
Gospel legacy lives and he still speaks.
Doyne is survived by his wife of 59 years today, BettyI son, Mark Plummer and wife Phyllis of
Austin, TexasI daughter, Anita Plummer of CabotI three grandchildren, Hayden, Christopher,
and Adam Plummer. He continually quoted Proverbs 17:6 to his grandchildren and assured
