Doyne Read "D.R." Ball, Sr., of Little Rock, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2007. A U. S. Navy veteran of World War II, he retired from the Little Rock Police Department and then worked as a baliff for the Pulaski County Courts. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the Westwood Masonic Lodge and the Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Ball; daughters, Vicky Edmonds, Susan Magness, Gloria Hurst and Missy Nesterenko; brother, Dayle Ball; sister, Melva Wallace; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, Ottis and Eulerah Read Ball; his son, Doyne R. Ball, Jr. and daughter, Sheila Kelley.
There will be visitation on Friday, February 2, from 6-8 p.m., at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), Little Rock. Funeral service will be Saturday, February 3 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial at 2:00 p.m. that afternoon at Russell Cemetery in Belleville, Arkansas.
