Doyle Davidson,

Doyle J. Davidson, Jr. went to his heavenly rest on May 9, 2011. He was born on October 25, 1920 in Gurdon, Arkansas to Doyle J. Davidson, Sr. and Tanie Key Davidson. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Roland Burl Davidson and Ross Edward Davidson. Doyle grew up in Gurdon and graduated from Gurdon High School. He attended Southern State College in Magnolia, Arkansas where he played baseball and football and was a member of the Army ROTC. At the beginning of World War II, he joined the Arkansas National Guard and was later called to active duty. For the majority of his Army service he was stationed in Alaska. On December 7, 1944, Doyle married Patsy Jane Hill of Okolona, Arkansas. They were married for 62 loving years until her death in 2009. Doyle was a long time and faithful member of Gardner Memorial Methodist Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Doyle spent his 42 year working career with Missouri Pacific Railroad as a brakeman and a conductor. Doyle was a 33rd degree Mason and had recently received his 50 year service pins from both the Masons and from Scimitar Shrine. He was very proud of his service to the Masons and to his community. Doyle is survived by his sister, Brooksie Reed Duncan of North Little Rock; son, Barry D. Davidson and wife, Lou, of Dallas, Texas; daughter, Susan D. Thompson and husband, Lee, Dallas; grandchildren, Wesley A. Thompson and wife, Amy, of Libertyville, Illinois; Bradley S. Thompson of Dallas; Brenner Davidson of Jackson, Mississippi, Brittany Davidson of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Justin Duffy and wife, Kelli, of Dallas; Kristin Walters and husband, Chris, of Dallas and great-grandchildren, Jackson and Julia Duffy of Dallas and Harper, Gillian, and Nina Thompson of Libertyville.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Gardner Memorial United Methodist Church or The Scimtar Shrine Temple.
Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 12th at Gardner Memorial Methodist Church followed by the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. with the burial at 2:30 p.m., at Rose Hedge Cemetery in Gurdon, Arkansas.
