Douglas Thacker

Douglas K. Thacker, 75, of Roland, passed away October 7, 2018. Born in Little Rock to Felix and Minnie Stayton Thacker, he retired from the Arkansas Highway Department as a Property Manager after 35 years of service. He was a member of Calvary Church of the Nazarene.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marilyn Mann Thacker; son, Darryl Thacker and his wife, Lynnette; granddaughter, Kelli M. Thacker; a large family and many friends.

Doug never met a stranger and always gave 110%. While employed with the Highway Department, he traveled the state, knew all of the towns and loved meeting people and helping with their relocations. He enjoyed traveling with his family and working outside on his John Deere tractor. He had a passion for working on sprint cars at the I-30 Speedway where he spent many a Saturday night. For 25 years, he volunteered with the Crystal Fire Department, where he was Chief for 19 of those years.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 10 from 6-8 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.). Services will be Thursday, October 11 at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Church of the Nazarene, officiated by Rev. Harlie Patterson, followed by interment at Pinecrest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Church of the Nazarene, 10325 West 36th St., Little Rock, AR 72204.
