Dorothy May Winter, 89, of Sherwood, passed away June 13th 2008. She was born in Sheffield, Illinois, February 9th,1919, to the late John William Simmonds and Milda May Thomas Sheffield. She was married 60 years to the late Elmer Edward Winter.
Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Harold) Marlatt and Beverly Neeley both of Sherwood; two sons, Edward Allen (Carolyn) Winter of Oklahoma City, OK and Michael Eugene (Eve) Winter of Beebe, Ar.;10 grandchildren, Carrie Ann (Marlatt) Smith, Mark Christopher Marlatt (Tami), Tina Marie Allen, Shawn Michael Winter (Jenny), Sonya Kay Brown (Russ), Joseph Allen Winter (Lori), Christine Lynne Bolitho (Gary), Angela Leigh Winter, Cynthia Michelle Putnam (Chris), Von Eric D. Garcia, Christian D. Garcia and Neil Dhave D. Garcia and several nieces and nephews.
She was well known as the "Cake Lady" by many and won many awards for her cake decorating. She designed cakes for many occasions, especially wedding cakes, which was her favorite. She was a very talented artist, not only with icing but also with oil paint on canvas. She enjoyed doing many other types of crafts. She was a chief judge in the local precinct for many years. She was an active member of Sylvan Hills United Methodist Church for 38 years and she taught kindergarten Sunday School class for over 20 years. She was a member of the Alter Arts guild at Sylvan Hills United Methodist Church, the United Methodist women's circle, and involved in mission outreach of the community. She was a loving friend with a charitable heart to all.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sylvan Hills United Methodist organ fund and Sylvan Hills United Methodist Early Learning Center.
Visitation will be held at Huson Funeral Home, 7700 Hwy 107 in Sherwood from 6-8 PM Monday June 16th.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, 10 A.M.,June 17th at Sylvan Hills United Methodist Church with Reverand Jim Rowland officiating. Burial will take place in the Sylvania Cemetery at Cabot, Ar.
