Dorothy Smith

Dorothy Smith, 82, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 27, 2024, in Conway, AR.  She was reunited with her husband of over 40 years, Walter Smith; her mother, Clarsie Mallonee; her brother, Jimmy Scott; her son, Larry Wiley; and her son-in-law, Jeff.

She is survived by two sons: Billy Wiley, Jr. and Darrell Wiley (Dawn); a daughter, Pamela Johnson (Jeff); step-daughters: Gina and Sheila Smith; six grandchildren: Steven, Chelsea, Brandon, Haley, Jesse and Zoey; eleven great-grandchildren: Nevaeh, Karson, Elias, Kaileb, Stevie, Bear, Beckett, Samuel, Emmalyn, Winona and Lily. She also leaves behind her fur-baby, Sofie, who never left her side.

If you knew Dorothy you knew she always kept a clean house.  You took your shoes off at the door to not track dirt in her house; and she would mop her floors 2 or 3 times a day.  She could never resist telling you what was on her mind, which was why her friends called her "snapper".

She enjoyed bowling on a league for many years and loved going to yard sales every weekend with her friends, Keathley and Bat.  They would embarrass anyone willing to tag along.  They would try to bargain- someone want a dime - they would offer a nickel.

Dorothy was not afraid of anything, except heights.  Some would call her "Dynamite" in a little package.  She loved shopping, always hunting for bargains, especially on clothing.  She made weekly trips to Wally World and would stay at JC Pennys for hours.  When she found a deal she would buy one in every color.  Her favorite place to eat was the "Mexican Food Place", where she drank her margaritas and spent time with Walter, Bob and Ellie.

After marrying Walter, they moved to Fairbanks, Alaska where she worked for Deep Ditch Pilot Car Service.  She was one of the very few woman, brave enough to drive the lead escort car on those dangerous ice-covered roads.

Dorothy and Walter opened Pacific East Transportation in 1986 and it is still in business today.

Dorothy wanted a celebration of life and for her family to come together and be there for one another.  A visitation will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025 from 6pm-8pm at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home.  A graveside service and burial will take place on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 1pm at Rest Hills Memorial Park, North Little Rock.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Maumelle Friends of The Animals.
