Dorothy Kellum Linsley, 92, of North Little Rock, passed away June 26, 2012. She was born in Jonesboro to Kenneth W. and Minnie Ola McFarlin Kellum. In 1957 during the segregation crisis, she was very active in the Women's Emergency Committee and the STOP Campaign to reopen Central High School and stop the firing of qualified teachers.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clyde T. Linsley, Sr. and grandson, Eric B. Linsley, she is survived by her sons, Clyde T. Linsley, Jr. (Nancy) of Annandale, Virginia, Richard Linsley (Martha) of Jacksonville and Jim Linsley (Wanda) of North Little Rock; brothers, Kenneth W. Kellum, Jr. (Theresa), of Ft. Myers, Florida and Mack Kellum (Sybil) of North Little Rock; sister, Bessie May Kellum Pope of Alexander; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 28 from 6-8 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.). Services will be Friday, June 29 at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by interment at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.
Mom was an avid artist, suffering from Alzheimer's. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to an art or Alzheimer's charity, or just a personal card or note will be greatly appreciated.
