Dorothy Kilmer

Dorothy "Gerrie" Kilmer, 88, of Little Rock (East End Community), finished her race and joined her Heavenly Father on Thursday, August 19th, 2021. Dorothy was born to George and Vera Kelley Evans in Little Rock, Arkansas on April 26th, 1933. Dorothy met the love of her life, James William Kilmer, and together they celebrated a devout Christ-centered life of love and family. She enjoyed cooking, having spent her profession as a cook, including many years working in school districts serving thousands of children. But her biggest joys came in the form of her family and friends. Dorothy believed in using her talents for the Lord, and she did that very well. She loved and served others in her church and her entire community with her God-given talent of cooking and her heart of friendship to all. Dorothy was a member of East End Baptist Church, Eastern Star-Iron Springs, and treasured her "Golden Hearts Senior Group" from her church. Her family will always remember her as a virtuous woman of God.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, James William Kilmer; parents George and Vera Evans; granddaughter Michelle McHenry; and her 2 siblings Richard Evans and Wilma Jean Evans.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Billy Kilmer (Becky); daughters Brenda Gubanski and Lynn Shellnut (Paul); grandchildren Ray, Rachel, Max (Samantha), Victoria (John), Bobby, Zackery, Morgan, and Zachary; 10 great-grandchildren; her best friend of over 30 years, Inez Foster; and a whole host of extended family, friends, and church family whom she cherished very much. The family would like to extend a very special "Thank You" to the staff of Arkansas Hospice for their care and compassion during Dorothy's final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to be made in Dorothy's name to Salem Cemetery, 20621 Arch St. Little Rock, AR 72206.
