Dorothy L Howard

Dorothy Howard, our beloved Wife, Mother, and Grandmother passed away peacefully in her home on March 31, 2023 at the age of 79. She was a wonderful Wife, Mother, and Grandmother who was always there when you needed her, yet she had a spitfire personality. She would always tell you her opinion even if it hurt your feelings, but you knew it was coming from a loving place in her heart when she did speak.

She was born on October 18, 1943 to Frankie Mae and Moses Kimbrew Sr. in Little Rock Arkansas. She was the only daughter born to them and the second oldest of six children. Born and raised in Little Rock, she attended Dunbar High School until 1957 due to the Little Rock Integrational Schools Crisis during the Civil Rights Movement. As a child her faith led her to attend Holy Temple Church of God In Christ.

As a young woman she worked briefly for Arkansas Children's Hospital as a Surgical Technician until she met her husband. Married for 55 years, she enjoyed traveling with him due to his career with the United States Air Force. She traveled to almost every state, Canada and one tour overseas to Panama.

The hobbies she enjoyed the most were Thrift Shopping, Flea Markets, and Arts & Crafts such as Macrame and playing Bingo regularly with friends.

She is preceeded in death by her father, mother, and three brothers. She is survived by her husband, Howard L. Howard; two brothers, Lloyd Kimbrew and Floyd Kimbrew; one son, Kenneth W. Kimbrew; daughters, Kimberly D. Russell and Felecia D. Howard; one granddaughter, Mesha N. Russell; and a host of in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Family will receive visitors from 9:00-10:00AM on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be at 10:00AM and interment will follow at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 W Maryland Ave.
