Dorothy Clifford

DOROTHY "KAY" CLIFFORD, 85, passed away September 28, 2019 in Plano, TX. She was born in Camden, Arkansas to T.A. and Dot McCord and was a longtime resident of Little Rock. Kay grew up in Camden, attended and graduated from Hendrix College as the first college graduate in her family. She was widowed last year by Twomey "Mike" Clifford after 63 years of marriage.

Early in their marriage, Kay and Mike were transferred around and lived in Monterey, CA, Camden, Chicago, New Orleans, Memphis and Dallas. During this time Kay became the mother of 4 sons in the course of 4½ years. In 1967, they moved back to Arkansas to start a new business and raise the boys in Little Rock. To say Kay was a busy mom would be an understatement. In between trips to the emergency room for stitches, broken bones, and other, Kay was active as president of school PTAs, den mother to Cub Scouts, carpool coordinator for swim teams, baseball, football, tennis and golf events for her boys and later for her grandchildren. Kay was one of the original members of the West Little Rock Potpourri Book Club started 50+ years ago and still meeting once a month.

She is survived by her sons, Tom and Mary Linn Clifford of Dallas, TX, Paul and Beth Clifford of Little Rock and Don Clifford of Little Rock; grandchildren, Chelsea Whitney, Brandon Clifford, Brittany Dunaway, Tiffany Milner, Nick Clifford, Michael Clifford, Corey Clifford and Dylan Clifford, niece, Kim Vinson and nephew, Gregg Smith and 6 great granddaughters and 3 great grandsons. In addition to her husband, Kay was preceded in death by her parents, her son (Patrick) and her sister (Nancy).

Kay was raised Methodist but became Catholic when she married. She had a strong faith and instilled that in her children and grandchildren. Kay will be remembered for her sharp wit and always speaking her mind. She loved cooking, entertaining and "socializing" with her friends and family. She will be missed by many.
