Dorothy Idalynn Grimmett Clement, formerly of Mabelvale and Ferndale and current resident of Jacksonville, AR died Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at the age of 88. She was born January 27, 1927 to Dorothy Susan Cornell and Ova Jethro Grimmett. She is survived by her daughters Susan Lynn Clement Whanger, Lizebeth Anne (Beth) and husband James E. (Jim) Daniel and granddaughter Sarah Elizabeth Whanger. She was predeceased by her grandson, Mark Clement Daniel; her husband of almost 50 years, Arthur Monroe "Butch" Clement; her parents and her brothers, William, Charles, Hollis, and Coleman. Many more friends and relatives will join us in missing her presence on this earth.
Our Mom was an avid reader and loved big words. She bowled in a league for many years. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and occasional crochet projects. She was in many organizations including Order of the Eastern Star, Extension Homemakers, and several quilting clubs. She was a member of the advisory board for Mary Williams Rainbow girls and did a lot of traveling with both of her daughters' assemblies through the years. Mom was a lifetime member of PTA. She was a faithful volunteer of the Cato Elementary School Media Center and loved hanging out "with the girls" at lunch. She was an active member of Mabelvale United Methodist Church, Highland Valley United Methodist Church, often singing in the choir, and was currently a member of Jacksonville United Methodist Church. She was in the Sew and Sew Circle most recently and considered herself very blessed to be a part of the Prime Time Christians Sunday School class.
She loved her family and family "get togethers" with laughter and food. Mom loved us unconditionally but we certainly knew when she didn't approve of our actions! She adored her grandchildren, Sarah and Mark, and her son-in-law Jim.
We would like to send special thanks to the nurses, CNAs, and staff of Robinson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. They truly cared for her as one of their own. Her Sunday School Class, along with Linda Remele, who have made many visits and sent her cards, thoughts and prayers will always have a special place in our hearts.
We look forward to a grand reunion with her one day in Heaven. What a day that will be!
Visitation will be Monday, March 23 from 6 - 8 pm at NLR Funeral Home. The celebration of Mom's life will take place at 1 pm on Tuesday, March 24 at First United Methodist Church of Jacksonville, Arkansas on Main Street with Rev. Scott Shafer and Rev.
