Dorothy Faye Carmical

Dorothy “Faye” Carmical, 89, of Montgomery, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 28th, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Faye was born on June 6th, 1932, to Arthur M. Clough and Maudie M. (Metcalf) Clough in Gadsden, Alabama, where she was the youngest of 11 children.  After high school she worked for a chiropractor and that’s where she met her husband, Arthur “AC” Carmical.  They were married in Birmingham, AL, on August 31st, 1952.  From that point they enjoyed a life of military service and traveled the world with their four children, Denny, Rick, Donna, and Steve.

After retiring from the Air Force in 1973, they moved to Cabot, AR.  In 2005 Art and Faye moved to the Houston, TX, area.

She was a wonderful mother with the ability to turn any house into a home through her love for home decorating, crafting, and gardening.  One of her favorite things to do was to spend the day out with the ladies in her life shopping for the latest fashions.  Whether it was the holidays or an ordinary evening meal, her cooking skills always produced family favorites that will continue to live on through her recipes.   Whether spending time fishing on the Little Red River, making a Christmas wreath for a front door, fixing their favorite food, playing a game of Yahtzee, or watching a backyard baseball game on “Sunday Fun Day”, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and their families.  As the matriarch of the family, her legacy will live on forever.

Faye was predeceased by her husband, Art Carmical, her son, Rick Carmical, her parents and 10 brothers and sisters.  She is survived by Denny Carmical, of Cabot AR; Donna Barnett (David), of Montgomery, TX; and Steve Carmical (Sharon) of Locust Grove, VA.  She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 1st, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Smith Family Funeral Home in Sherwood, AR.  The funeral service will follow at 2:30 pm.

Her final resting place will be at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery alongside her husband.

Pallbearers are Justin Carmical, Andrew Carmical, Austen Stover, Andrew Stover, Nathan Mooneyham, Mark Azar, and Chris Stover.
