Sister Dorothy Mae Brown was born in St. Frances County, Arkansas, July 29, 1940 to the union of Willie and Alberta Brown.
Dorothy accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. John Church in Madison, Arkansas. After moving to Pulaski County in 1960 she joined Mount Ararat Baptist Church in North Little Rock. She moved to Chicago in 1968 and became a faithful and active member of New True Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago, Illinois until illness returned her to Arkansas. She served on the Pastor's Aide Committee and was a faithful attendee at Sunday School.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her father, Willie Brown, Sr. (1954), mother Alberta Bone Brown Boca (1991), brother, Willie Brown,Jr. (2006) and sister, Evelyn Lois Tyson (2011).
Leaving to cherish her memories: three sisters, Juanita Hodges (Colonel) of Madison, Arkansas, Gloria Jean Mays of Cahokia, Illinois, and Shirley Marie Maxiell (James) of Sherwood, Arkansas; one brother, Leodis Brown of Little Rock, Arkansas and a devoted sister/cousin, Florice Bradford. Two play daughters: Doris Daniels and Denise Hillie. God-Children: James "Kelsey" Bradford and Eddie Thomas. Also aunts, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was a devoted sister, a very caring and thoughtful friend and aunt that was loved by all.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 20th at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Burial will be at Arkansas Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be held Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Smith North Little Rock Home, 1921 Main St., 501-758-1170. Online obituary at www.SmithFamilyCares.com .
