Dorothy L. Wood Allen age 86 of Bismarck died Wednesday, November 18, 2009,at her home. She was born April 26, 1923, the daughter of the late Hardy Jewel Wood and Eva Wood Allen. Dorothy and her late husband J. C. (Jack) Allen owned and operated Allen's Sewing Center in Arkadelphia for many years and was a member of the DeRoche Missionary Baptist Church. Besides her husband, one daughter Jackie L. Porter also preceded her in death.
Survivors are one son, Jerry Allen (wife) Tamara of Harrison, AR; three daughters Ann Harris (husband) D.R. of Little Rock, Donna Allen (companion) Teri Foster of Knoxville TN, Regina Efird (husband Ronnie) of Bismarck; six grandchildren , Brian Allen, Leah Allen, Dawn Williams, John Allen, Brooke Copeland and Derek Efird; fourteen great-grandchildren; and a special caregiver Donna Martin.
Services will be 2 PM on Sunday November 22, 2009, at Caney Missionary Baptist Church with Bro Robert Cossey Officiating with burial in the DeRoche Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 - 8 pm Saturday at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia. Memorials may be made to DeRoche Cemetery Fund or to Caney Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund.
