Doris Chambers Robey, age 93, of Bryant, passed away October 14, 2022 in Bryant, AR. Mrs. Robey was born on September 24, 1929, at her grandmother’s house in Calmer, AR. She grew up in Glendale, AR, along with two brothers and two sisters and a loving farming community.
Mrs. Robey received her Bachelors of Science in Education degree from Henderson State University and her Masters of Education degree from University of Central Arkansas. She continued her education for many years completing advanced studies at University of Arkansas, University of Tennessee, and University of Memphis. She especially cherished her memories at Henderson where she met her husband of 49 years and was very active in many clubs in addition to being a cheerleader. In 2007, Doris received a Holly Society Award in recognition of her outstanding support of the Henderson Heart Club at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia.
Doris loved her career as a teacher helping prepare her students for a better life. She taught classes at Fort Polk, Cutter Morning Star, Harmony Grove, Wakefield Elementary, and Mabelvale High School before spending the final years of her career at McClellan High School as Chairman of the Business Education Department. Her passion for business education led her to become the Business Education Instructional Specialist for the Pulaski County Special School District assisting the business teachers at all their high schools. She served as President Elect of the National Association of Supervisors in Business Education and President of the Phi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a member of the Arkansas Business Education Association, National Education Association, Arkansas and American Vocational Association, and a lifelong member of the Future Business Leaders of America holding numerous leadership positions.
She was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church of Hot Springs and Mabelvale United Methodist Church in Mabelvale.
Doris was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and sister. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Bill Robey, her parents Elbert and Vivian Chambers of Glendale, AR, and her brothers Carlton Chambers of Hideaway, TX, and Frank Chambers of Hot Springs, AR. Mrs. Robey is survived by her sisters Louise Bray of North Little Rock, AR, and Pat Racop of Little Rock, AR, her children Debbie (Ritch) Williams of Fayetteville, AR, and Greg (Stephenie) Robey of Charlotte, NC, her grandchildren Amanda (Farschad) Farzan, Missi (Dennis) Detar, Matt (Tedra) Williams, Michael Robey, and Nathan Robey, her great- grandchildren Logan Farzan, Cydnee Detar, Bronwyn Williams, Miranda Williams, and Brayden Williams.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Rose Hill Cemetery, 1200 Main St., Arkadelphia, AR. No formal visitation will be held. The celebration of life service will be held on October 22, 2022 at Mabelvale United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. The service will be conducted by Reverend Bob Marble and a reception will immediately follow at the church.
