Doris Phillips, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished member of her community has sadly passed away at the age of 93 in Hot Springs on Thursday, September 21, 2023.
She was born on September 18, 1930, in Pleasant Valley, which is now covered by Lake Ouachita. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Bertha Castleberry, her husband, Carl T. Phillips Sr., three sisters, Wanda Davis, Mildred Phillips, and Geraldine Wilson, one brother, L.D. Castleberry and a granddaughter-in-law, Jamie Phillips.
Doris was a woman of strength and determination who dedicated her life to her family and worked tirelessly to provide for them. Her career spanned over two decades at National Rejecters, where she showcased her unwavering work ethic and commitment. Additionally, Doris owned and operated Phillips parking lot for an impressive 55 years. Family meant everything to Doris. She treasured the moments spent with her loved ones and found immense joy in their presence. Outside of her professional and familial commitments, she enjoyed working in the yard and reading her favorite books.
She is survived by one sister Linda Fagan, three brothers, Wilburn Castleberry, Gary Castleberry, Jerry (Dawn) Castleberry. She is also survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Carl T. Phillips Jr. and wife Lora, three grandchildren, Cara Phillips Long, Matthew Phillips, Michael (Kirsten) Whitman, five great grandchildren, and many nieces nephews, great nieces, and nephews.
