Doris McKinney

Doris Maxine Baldwin Cate McKinney, 83, of Maumelle, Arkansas passed away February 8, 2015. She was born June 17, 1931 in Lonoke County, Arkansas to Hemp and Mary Baldwin of Lonoke. Although Doris lived at various times in Missouri, Texas and Utah, Arkansas was always home. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Little Rock for many years. Besides Doris' love of God, church and family, especially her grandchildren, she had a special place in her heart for the Arkansas Razorbacks, golf, travel and cooking.
Doris is survived by three children, Joan Marie McKinney McCune (John) of Thornton, Colorado, Phyllis Ann Cate Nunnally (Bill) of Maumelle, and Vanessa Lynn McKinney Brickman (Tony) also of Maumelle; three grandchildren, Jeana Marie McCune Yager (Adam) of Kansas City, Missouri, Anthony James Brickman, Jr. and Afton AnnLynn Brickman, both of Maumelle; one great-grandchild, William Thomas Yager of Kansas City, Missouri; siblings Helen Glover of Carlisle, Eva Sullivan and Tom Baldwin, both of Little Rock, and Raymond Baldwin of Cabot; and countless other nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hemp and Mary Baldwin; husbands David Nicholas Cate and James Warren McKinney; son Dennis Neal Cate; and granddaughter Jennifer Noel McCune.
The family would like to send special thanks to: Lisa Conaway, Doris' wonderful caregiver of many years, Senator Bobby Glover for all of his help and support during this long road, Chambers Nursing Home for their care and aid during the past few months; numerous churches throughout Arkansas and beyond which kept Doris in their thoughts and prayers; endless family and church friends who helped Vanessa, Lisa and Phyllis sit with Mom during this last month; the dedicated doctors, nurses and hospice personnel at Baptist Hospital, Little Rock; Nate Andrews for his prayers and being with the family during her final hours.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church on Pleasant Valley Drive and Rodney Parham Road, Little Rock. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at First Baptist Church, with burial in Wattensaw Cemetery. Arrangements by Smith - Westbrook Funeral Home.
