Doris Jean Barton, a compassionate and dedicated woman who spent her life helping others, passed away on September 28, 2023. She was born on March 16, 1943, in Little Rock, AR to Eddie and Gussie Hester Value. Doris lived a remarkable life filled with love, kindness, and endless devotion to her community.

Doris dedicated many years of her life working as a Cardiac Support Tech. Her career allowed her to make a meaningful impact on the lives of countless individuals who were in need of care and support. Her commitment to helping the elderly was truly inspiring. Doris would frequently visit food banks and collect food to distribute among the elders. She had a heart full of warmth and empathy, always going above and beyond to ensure that those she cared for felt loved and valued.

Outside of her career, Doris had several passions and interests that brought her joy. She was an avid reader, constantly immersing herself in books that expanded her horizons and enriched her mind. In addition to her love for books, she also enjoyed playing computer games as a way to unwind and challenge herself.

One of Doris's proudest accomplishments was being a survivor of Breast Cancer. She faced this challenging chapter of her life with unwavering strength and determination that served as an inspiration to those around her. Doris's resilience stood as a testament to her inner spirit and indomitable courage.

Being an active member of the Dunbar Community Senior Citizen Center was another significant part of Doris's life. She cherished the connections she forged with fellow members at the center and cherished every moment spent there. The friendships she formed brightened her world and brought immense joy into her life.

Doris's passing leaves behind countless cherished memories that will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved her dearly. She is survived by her devoted children: daughters, Rebecca Fuller (Carl), Robin Gray, Roz Davis-Bogle, and Stephanie Barton-Phillips (Ricky); and sons, Donald Value (Gwen) and Henry Barton III (Lazendra). Her legacy also lives on through her adored grandchildren: Corey Value, Marcus Gray, Christopher Daniels, Anthony Gray, Keith Bogel III, Ricky Phillips Jr., Michael Phillips, Stephanie Barton, Henry Barton, IV, and Torie Barton. Additionally, she leaves behind five great-grandchildren who brought immense happiness into her life as well as her cherished sisters, Louise Bullocks, Clementine Reese, and Lavern Powell.

Doris Jean Barton's life was marked by selflessness, compassion, and unwavering dedication to those in need. She will always be remembered for her boundless energy, her kindness towards others, and her unyielding love for family and friends. She left an indelible mark on the world around her and will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.

A memorial service in honor of Doris will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Macedonia Baptist Church, 1723 E. 3rd St., Little Rock, AR. Arrangements entrusted to Smith Benton Funeral Home.
