Donna June Spears, age 77, of Amity, passed away Friday, December 11, 2020.

She was born on November 28, 1943, in Denver Colorado, the daughter of Ernest Leroy McNees and June Ann Bowers McNees. She was preceded in death by her son, David Alan Spears; her parents; one brother, Carson McNees; and three sisters, Patricia “Pat” Riley, Linda Thornburg and Diane Brown.

Donna was raised in Forest Hills, California. She met Charles “Wooten” Spears, married him on December 5, 1962 and moved to Amity where they raised their family. She was employed by Bean Lumber Company in Amity and then retired from Dollar General in Glenwood. Donna enjoyed painting and was a member of the Three Rivers Art Guild. She also had a deep love of horses. She looked forward every year to her journey back to California to visit her family.

She is survived by her husband, Charles “Wooten” Spears; two sons, Charles “Charlie Horse” Spears and his wife, Katie, and Tracy Spears, all of Amity; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; her sister, Nancy Gray of Acampo, California; her “adopted” daughter and caregiver, Kat Lindsey of Amity; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a private memorial service with burial in Coker Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home and Crematory, Glenwood.
