Donald Lamar Wilson, 73, of Vilonia, went home to be with his Savior on July 9, 2009. He was born March 7, 1936 in Kosciusko, Mississippi.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl D. and Rosa A. Bennett Wilson; brothers, Carl Jr., Bennett and William (Bill) Wilson; and a sister, Mary A. Wilson Martin.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marilyn Matthews Wilson of the home; son, Donald E. Wilson, of North Little Rock; daughters, Tammie Wilson Greening and her husband, Ed, of Fayetteville and Robyn Wilson Keene and her husband, Ritchie, of Benton. He leaves four grandchildren, Raven, Mason and Hunter Greening, of Fayetteville and Ryne Keene, of Benton; and a wealth of family and friends.
He served proudly as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corp. during the Korean Conflict and upon returning to civilian life became a master electrician. He owned and operated Don Wilson Electrical/Mechanical Company, Inc. until his retirement.
He was a member of Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church at El Paso, Arkansas. He was a member of Oak Grove Masonic Lodge #765 F&AM, a 32nd degree Mason, and a member of the Scimitar Shrine Temple. He served as Arkansas State Rainbow Dad 1982-83.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to St. Jude Children?s Hospital, 505 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
A graveside service will be held 1:00 P.M., Monday at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, Maryland Ave., North Little Rock, Arkansas. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Sunday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St. 758-1170. Online obituary and guest register at www.nlrfh.com.
