Donald Smith, a beloved figure in Hot Springs, passed away suddenly in Royal, AR. Born in Camden, AR, on August 30, 1946, to Ray Smith and Elsie Rogers-Smith. Donald lived a life filled with passion and dedication to his community.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one son Derek Ryan Smith, and 11 siblings.
Donald was known for his many roles in the community, from being the proud owner of Western Auto in Hot Springs since 1988 to his remarkable 31-year tenure on the Lake Hamilton School Board. He also made a lasting impact by assisting with initiating the second chance program at Lake Hamilton. A man of great faith and hard work ethic, Donald served two years in the army, including a deployment to Vietnam. He was admired for his outgoing and friendly personality, as well as his deep-rooted relationship with the Lord. Outside of his professional endeavors, Donald found joy in gardening and planting flowers as well as decorating and spending time with family.
Among his proudest accomplishments were building a loving family and nurturing a strong relationship with God. Donald is survived by his devoted wife Betty June Crow-Smith, his children Cindy Smith, Robert (Laura) Smith, Eric (Chris) Smith, as well as grandchildren Alex, Hayden, Casidy, Holly, and great-granddaughters Landyn and Everly.
Burial will take place at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Kevin Hale, Steve Anderson, Mark Curry, Ralph Pinkerton, Ted Noble, and Glen Beaver.
The visitation will be held on March 25th at Smith Family Funeral Home in Hot Springs from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The funeral service will take place on March 26th at 11:00 AM at the same location with Brent Parker officiating.
