Donald Eugene Rhodes, Sr., 90 years old, passed away December 28, 2018 in Benton, Arkansas. He was born December 7, 1928 in DeQueen, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Ivy Smith Rhodes and Dovie Lemley Rhodes, son, Donald E. Rhodes, Jr. and his wife, Jimmie Rhodes. Donald is survived by his son, Michael Rhodes of Little Rock, three daughters, Diana Barr of Hendersonville, TN, Janice Rhodes and Shirley (Will) Holt of Benton, AR; six granddaughters, Stacy (Rush) Simpson, Jennifer (Drew) Altom, Stephanie (Marcus) Johnson, Melissa (Steven) White, Hannah (Jonathan) Howland, and Kristin (Bryson) Caudle; 12 great-grandchildren and his sister, Lois Wimpee of DeQueen, AR.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Benton, AR. Donald was a proud WWII and Korean War veteran. He was also a 32nd degree Mason. A lifelong truck driver, he had driven over five million miles of accident-free driving. He will be interred at a graveside service at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 Maryland Avenue, North Little Rock, AR at 10:00 a.m. on January 4, 2018. One of the most meaningful highights of his later life was being able to participate in the Oklahoma Warriors Honor Flight to Washington, DC to view the veteran memorials.
