Donald Ray (Speedy) Hughes, 79, of Benton, died on July 12th. He was born October 10, 1939 in Dallas, Texas to the late Eric A. Hughes and Mary Eva Bragg Hughes. He was retired from Alcoa.
Don is survived by his wife of 40 years, Margie Lee Hughes; and his four daughters: Celeste Hughes Jones of Benton, Robin Echols Bryant (Trent) of Independence, MO, Camille Hughes Young of Lonoke and Marsha Echols Barker (Roger) of Benton. His 8 grandchildren: Trey Bryant of Austin, Texas, Brody Barker (Shelby), Jared Barker, Samuel Jones, Jesse Barker, Olivia Jones, Ashley Jones, all of Benton plus an infant granddaughter born May 28, 1991 died June 10, 1991, Kaitlin Young.
There will be a visitation at Smith-Benton Funeral Home on Saturday, July 20 at 10:00 AM followed by a celebration of Don's life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Lung Association at National Direct Headquarters, 1200 Hosford Street, Suite 101, Hudson, WI 54016-9316 or the American Heart Association, American Stroke Association, P.O. Box 841125, Dallas, TX 75284-1125.
