Donald Reece Horton

September 21, 1946 — January 1, 2024

Bryant

Donald Reece Horton passed away on January 1, 2024. He was born on September 21, 1946, in Fordyce, Arkansas. Donald was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who touched the lives of many with his kindness and generosity.

Donald graduated from South Arkansas University with a bachelor's degree. He had a successful career as a procurement specialist with Entergy for over 30 years. Donald was an avid Razorback fan and loved showing his support for the team. But that team paled in comparison to watching his grandchildren play on their sports teams. His grandchildren were Donald’s world. Donald enjoyed collecting stamps, postcards, and baseball cards. Donald also went on numerous adventures with his wife during their decade-long travels in their RV across the United States and abroad. They made memories in Alaska, Yellowstone National Park, the Grand Canyon, California, Disney World, Bali, and many other places.

Donald was preceded in death by his son, Reece Louis Horton; parents, Orion Voreece and Virginia (Derryberry) Horton; and sister, Bonnie Sue Horton Wallace.

Donald is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Donna Wilson Horton of Bryant, Arkansas, formerly of Camden, Arkansas; their son Shayne Horton and his wife Casandra of East End, Arkansas; their daughter Bonnie Elizabeth Horton of Bryant, Arkansas; eight grandchildren: Taylor Horton, Allie Beech, Ryne Horton, Valery Cotton, Hailey Jones, Cameron Brantley, Nataley Cotton, and Reece Horton; as well as two great-grandchildren: Talynn Dixon and Reed Horton. Another great-grandchild is soon to arrive, Rhiannon Freeby. Donald also leaves behind numerous other family members and friends who will forever cherish the memories they shared.

A visitation will take place on January 9, 2024, from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at Geyer Springs First Baptist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at the same location at 2:00 PM. Donald will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication that will be carried on by those he held dear.
