Donald B. Herrin, 81, of Little Rock, widower of Helen Golenor Herrin, died Friday, April 18, 2008. He was a member of Mabelvale United Methodist Church, and a United States Navy veteran of World War II.
He was born March 6, 1927 in North Little Rock, Arkansas, the son of George F. and Wilma Batson Herrin. In 1950, he married Helen Golenor and they traveled much of the central states since he worked for Westinghouse Elevator Division and with the Western state # 2 Local 79 International Union of Electric Contractors. He was a member of the Mabelvale United Methodist church and the Chapel Class. He was also a member of the NRA for more than 50 years.He had been a Mason for over 50 years and was a member of the Western Star Masonic Lodge 32. He served in the Navy during World War Two on Pine Island in the South Pacific. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Helen Herrin and one sister, Sue Truelove.
He is survived by his sisters, Mary Ellen Tamari of West Virginia and Pat Sprague of Florida; brother, George Herrin, of California; many nieces and nephews whom he loved as his own children and a host of friends.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, April 21 at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), Little Rock. The Funeral will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 22 at Mabelvale United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Bob Marble. Interment will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Alexander. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mabelvale United Methodist Church.
