Donald Edward Daniels, 76, of Arkadelphia, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013.
Don was a skilled and willing craftsman who loved to work with his hands, and he possessed a great zest for life, even in the face of illness and adversity. He loved to see his friends and family laugh, and was always ready with a smile or a joke. He also had a vivid imagination, and enjoyed telling stories and sharing rhymes, riddles and poetry with those around him.
Born Jan. 16, 1937 in Gurdon, Don served in the United States Air Force, worked for years as an electrician for Perelli Cable near Malvern, and later retired from the Arkadelphia Water Department.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover C. Daniels and Verda Crabb Daniels of Gurdon; by his siblings, Bedford, Jerry, Abraham and Woodrow Daniels, Georgia Golden, Gussie Francis, Rose Groves and Thelma Peterson; and by his first wife, Pearley Daniels and daughter, Sheila.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Pat Daniels of Arkadelphia; his daughters Anna (Terry) Smith of Arkadelphia and Pam (Andy) Bell of Bismarck; by his grandchildren, Dustin (Ashley) Bell and Jordan Bell of Bismarck, Blake (Meredith) Bell and Andrew Smith of Arkadelphia, and Aaron (Sarah) Smith of Little Rock; by his 3 great-grandchildren; by several nieces and nephews; and by many friends.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Saturday, October 26, in the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Chapel in Arkadelphia with Rev. Craig Seals officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Friday evening. Burial will be in the Brown Cemetery near Beirne, AR.
The family is especially grateful for the exceptional care Don received at Courtyard Gardens, the Degray/DeVita Kidney Center, and National Park Medical Center.
