Donald Bernard Culpepper

Donald Bernard Culpepper, born on November 25, 1952, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025. He is remembered by all who knew him as a man with a larger-than-life personality, whose warmth and enthusiasm lit up every gathering.

A dedicated public servant, Don’s contributions to his community were significant. He served on the Jonesboro City Council and was a past President of the Jonesboro Jaycees. He also served on the Northeast Arkansas Fair Board. His career spanned more than three decades at Sears, from which he later retired. Following his retirement, he continued to dedicate his time and expertise to the Associated Building and Contractors as President, and found joy in working at Home Depot, where many friendships were forged.

Don graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1971 before attending Arkansas State University, where he majored in Political Science and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order.

Don possessed a green thumb and derived great pleasure from working in his garden, a pastime that further showcased his nurturing spirit. He devotedly embraced his role as a loving “Papa” to his granddaughters, Caroline, Lauren, Cate, and Ava, nurturing their lives with love, laughter, and invaluable life lessons.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Ginger Harrison Culpepper, along with their children, Courtney Culpepper Schafer and William Culpepper (Jennifer). Don is also survived by his siblings, Carol Dew (Tommy), Sharon Land (Roger), Jim Culpepper (Kay), and Randy Culpepper (Greg Holbrook), as well as a host of family and friends who cherished his companionship and presence.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, JD and Mildred Culpepper, and his sister, Cindi Hall. His legacy of kindness, service, and love will continue to inspire those he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home (1921 Main Street) with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
