Donald Blackwell

Donald Lloyd Blackwell, 82, of Bryant, Arkansas, died on February 22, 2015 with family members by his side. Donald was born on February 27, 1932, in Stuttgart, Arkansas, the son of Bill and Ruth (Schumacher) Blackwell.
He graduated from Stuttgart High School in 1950 and served his country in the US Army from 1952-1954 and was a Korean War Veteran. Upon returning from the Service, Donald worked for Riceland Foods for 25 years. In 1979, Mr. Blackwell founded Arkansas Agri Products. Donald was a devout Lutheran and a very active member of St. John's Lutheran in Stuttgart, Trinity Lutheran in North Little Rock, and Zion Lutheran in Avilla. He loved his two favorite sport teams, the Arkansas Razorbacks and the St. Louis Cardinals. The family spent many summers in St. Louis watching Cardinal Baseball.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Linda George; daughter, Janet Crosmer and husband Paul; sons Kevin Blackwell and wife Amy and Mark Blackwell; stepson Jeff Calhoun and wife Charlotte; sister, Donna Ruth Gunnell and husband Tommy; sister-in- law Loretta Blackwell; grandchildren, Jonathan Crosmer and wife Kathleen, Jeremy Crosmer, Annalisa Crosmer, Charlotte Crosmer, Spencer Colson, Taylor Calhoun, Mattie Calhoun, Jamie Blackwell and Aly Blackwell; as well as many other family members and friends who loved Donald and will miss him always.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Ruth Blackwell; sister, Shirley Ann Blackwell and brother, Billy Blackwell.
Visitation is Friday, February 27th, 2015 from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Zion Lutheran Church, Avilla with funeral service following at 2:00 pm. Arrangements by Smith - Benton Funeral Home. Online condolences: www.SmithFamilyCares.com.
