Don "Shorty" Stevens, age 78, of Bonnerdale, passed away on Monday, April 2, 2018. He was born on January 21, 1940 in Marietta, Minnesota, the son of Kenneth Merle Stevens and Fern Frazier Stevens. On July 3, 1982, in Sioux City, Iowa, he was married to Lydia Kosarek. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sylvia Walkins Stevens; his daughter, Donna Stevens; his grandson, Kenny Stevens; his daughter-in-law, Kim Gregor Stevens; three great-grandchildren; and his niece, Dawn Taecker. He worked as a custodian at Lake Hamilton Public Schools and Glenwood Public Schools for many years. He also contracted custodial work and lawn care for Alltel before retiring to enjoy farming. He was a member of the Community Bible Baptist Church and a friend of Bill W. He was loved by so many. He is survived by his loving wife, Lydia Stevens of Bonnerdale; his children and their spouses, Sheila Greathouse of Royal, Ronnie and Terri Stevens of Bethel Heights, Arkansas, John Stevens of Hot Springs and Tommy and Jennifer Stevens of Benton; his grandchildren and their spouses, Sylvia and Thomas ONeil, Donnie Stevens, Bobbi Jo and Bryan Huddleston, Tina Stevens and Kinsley Stevens; his great-granddaughters, Maely Huddleston, Mya Huddleston and Makaelynn Greathouse; and his sister, Verna Donaldson of Rapid City, South Dakota. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, April 6, 2018, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. Tony Hill officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Nelson Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Cody Hill, Dalton Hill, Jason Tweedle, Dennis Cagle, Mickey Smith and Terry Brooks.
