Don Owens

Don Ray Owens, 78, of Hot Springs passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2015. He was born March 18, 1937 in Stuttgart, Arkansas to Whitten and Elizabeth Owens. He worked at Union Carbide for 18 years and taught Geology at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Don loved snow skiing and the geology of Magnet Cove. His final resting place will be in Magnet Cove, Arkansas.
He is survived by his son, Paul Owens and his grandson, Paul Owens, Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
A celebration of Don's life will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 30, 2015 at Smith - North Little Rock Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers donations in Don's honor may be made to the Geological Society of America, where he was a member.
