Don Mickey

Don E. Mickey, 80, of North Little Rock passed away unexpectedly Thursday, January 7, 2010. He was born August 12, 1929 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa to Pete Mickey and Norean Mickey. Don was married on December 26, 1950 to Donna (Wimpsett) Mickey of Hedrick, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ralph and G. W. Mickey, of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; and granddaughter, Sarah Roble, of North Little Rock. He is survived by his wife, Donna Mickey; son Danny Mickey (Linda); two daughters, Deborah Denton and Dorene Cason (Earl); three grandchildren, Mindi Martin (Curtis), Britney Porter (Jon) and Victor Roble; three great-grandchildren, Kallie Martin, Kurt Martin and Jaxson Porter, all of North Little Rock.
He attended Iowa Wesleyan before moving his family to Arkansas. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Orchid Society, Kiwanas and was a carpet manufacturer representative for over 30 years. Don was a Korean War veteran and received the Purple Heart.
Don was an avid gardener and loved traveling with his wife of 59 years. He will always be remembered as a man who enjoyed life to the fullest, who was full of life and laughter.

A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery with Father Frank DuPreez, of St. Patrick Parish and Father Tom Stehlik of St. Anne's Parish officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170. Online obituary and guest register at www.nlrfh.com.
