Dolores A. (Bascle) LeCompte, a beloved member of the community, passed away on August 7, 2023, at her home in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was surrounded by her loving family during her final moments. Dolores will be remembered for her faith and her unwavering commitment to helping others.
Dolores, born on June 21, 1935 in Houma, Louisiana, was the daughter of Marion and Irma (Hornsby) Bascle. Growing up in a large but close-knit family with her brothers Donald, Douglas, Daniel, Dean, and David and sisters Doris, Darlene, Dorthy, and Diane, Dolores developed strong values of compassion and kindness that would define her life.
Dolores' dedication to serving others was evident from an early age. In order to finance her education and pursue her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse, she worked as an Executive Administrator Assistant for many years. Her determination and hard work paid off when she eventually achieved her goal and became a respected healthcare professional.
Throughout her career as a nurse, Dolores touched the lives of countless individuals with her warm heart and caring nature. She showed immense compassion towards not only the physical needs of her patients but also their emotional well-being. Dolores genuinely loved people, which could be seen in the special attention she gave to each person under her care.
Outside of work, Dolores devoted herself to various hobbies and interests that brought joy to her life. She was a lifelong member of St. Edward Catholic Church in Little Rock, where she found solace and inspiration through her faith. Dolores was also an avid gardener who was in the master gardener's club, where she mastered the art of nurturing beautiful plants that bloomed under her loving care. Additionally, she had a deep appreciation for the arts, particularly the theater.
Dolores will be forever cherished by all those whose lives she touched. She is survived by her husband Richard Sanders; her children Carl Pettit and Lora Hughes; son-in-law Anthony Hughes; grandchildren Lauren Hughes, Ashley Pettit Leopoluis, and Carl S. Pettit, III; and great-grandson J.D. McCurry. Delores also leaves behind her brothers Donald, Douglas, Daniel Bascle, and sisters Darlene, Dorthy, and Diane. She will be deeply missed by numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members.
Dolores is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Dean and David Bascle; and sister, Doris.
A celebration of Dolores' life will take place on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at the Smith Family Funeral Home in Little Rock. The gathering will begin with a Rosary at 6:00 PM and will be followed by a visitation at 7:00 PM. The next day, August 10th, a Mass will be held at St. Edward Catholic Church at 10:00 AM to honor Dolores' memory. She will be inurned in a niche at Calvary Cemetery in Little Rock.
In this time of sorrow and remembrance, let us find solace in the enduring legacy of Dolores A. LeCompte. May her kindness and compassion continue to inspire us all as we carry her spirit forward in our hearts.
