Dixie Whitfield

In Loving Memory of Dixie Charlene Stevenson-Whitfield

Conway, Arkansas - On August 11, 2023, the earth lost a beautiful soul, but Heaven gained a powerful addition. Dixie Charlene Whitfield (also lovingly known as Miss Dixie or GranDixie), a beacon of love, faith, and creativity, completed her earthly journey at 76. She was born on Christmas Eve in Albany, New York, on December 24, 1946, and passed on in Conway, Arkansas. She leaves a legacy of unwavering devotion to her sons, boundless kindness to friends and strangers, and an unshakeable connection with her Lord and Savior.

A mother that embodied a servant's heart, she is survived by her two boys, Kris, and Mike Whitfield, with a legacy that further extends to her nine grandchildren: Remington, Lilah Jo, Victoria, Madeline, Mason, McKinley, Marisa, Micah, and Maverick. Each child is a testament to her continuing impact on the world.

With these words, Dixie's life and departure are summarized with love. She sacrificed everything she had for her sons to achieve their goals. She laughed until she cried. She believed that the way she lived her life may be the only bible that another person may ever read, and that served to guide her actions. A brilliant designer, she completed every project, seen or unseen, big or small, as if she were going to sign her name to it for the world to know she did it. She was never afraid of breaking the awkward tension of telling someone they had a string of toilet paper stuck to the bottom of their shoe. She loved strangers and turned them into friends. She was not fearful of death but couldn't wait to see Jesus face-to-face. She finished her race and now stands in the presence of the Lord she cherished throughout her life. Her absence here is joyfully overshadowed by the vision of her in eternal communion with God and loved ones, pain-free, perfected, and unburdened, hearing the words she longed for, 'well done, good and faithful servant.' She achieved so much more than this in her life and career, but this is what she would want the focus of her legacy to be.

Dixie lived a life that she would want punctuated with joy, laughter, and happiness, not mourning and sadness. In that spirit, Dr. Rex Horne will lead a memorial service to celebrate her memory, on Sunday, August 20, at 3 PM at Griffin Leggett, located at 1751 Dave Ward Dr. Conway, AR 72034. This address may also be used for any items or flowers.

Dixie leaves behind a legacy forged in love, faith, and salvation that resides within her family and the countless souls who found Christ due to her faithfulness. She was not only a source of guidance to many but a creator and keeper of traditions and stories all passed down to her children and grandchildren. She has left a powerful mark on the world that has changed lives, shaped destiny's, and brightened souls. Dixie will be deeply missed by loved ones, but only for a short moment in time. Until that joyous reunion, her legacy lives on in every heart she touched.
