Tassie Coy (Dick) Mitchell, 89, of Little Rock, passed away on March 7, 2021. Born in Harmony, Arkansas to John and Essie Mitchell, he was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean war. He owned Tanglewood Barber Shop in Little Rock and worked as a barber for over 60 years before retiring. He was a member at St. Paul United Methodist Church. He was close to his family and especially loved spending time with his two granddaughters.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Joy Mitchell; two sons, Ron Mitchell (Stacy) of Little Rock and Greg Mitchell of Cabot; and two granddaughters, Kate Mitchell and Abby Mitchell, both of Little Rock. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Toy Mitchell, Lewis Mitchell and Claude Mitchell and sisters, Dora Downing, Jimmie Bennett, Sally Downing, and M.E. Waggle.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 11 from 6-8 p.m. at Smith Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 12 at 12:00 pm at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church of Little Rock or the Parkinson’s Foundation.
