Mrs. Dianna “Diane” Lynn Gant ,79, of Benton AR, passed away on February 24, 2025
She was proceeded in death by husband of 48 years, Hugh “Dennis” Gant Jr.; her parents, Bill and Betty Pounders; sister, Sharon Weaver; and brother, Kenny Pounders. Dianna is survived by her daughter, Courtney Lynn Cook of Benton, Arkansas; grandchildren, Carter and Ashlynn Cook; as well as her neighbor and best friend of 48 years, Mrs. Yvonne Cates of Benton, Arkansas; her brother- in law, Dwight Weaver of Apex North Carolina; her two nephews, Wayne and Doug Weaver, and their families in North Carolina; many cousins, family members and friends who loved Dianna and will miss her always.
Dianna was born in Little Rock, Arkansas and grew up in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Growing up, she was active in her church, and many school electives. She attended Dollarway High School (Class of ‘63) where Diane was a cheerleader, and a member of the choral ensemble. She and her sister, Sharon Weaver, participated in everything together.
Diane was a devoted wife, loving mother, sister and adoring grandmother. She devoted her life to her family. Dianna cherished time spent with her daughter and grandchildren, whether sharing heartfelt conversations, enjoying ice cream together, or going on endless shopping adventures. There was never a dull moment if you were in the same room as her. She knew how to make a joke, and she knew how to comfort the ones she loved-which was one of the most beautiful gifts she had.
One of her favorite hobbies was going around town with her grandson, Carter, and granddaughter, Ashlynn, from TJ- Max to Belk in Hot Springs, they did everything together. Diane and her husband, Dennis, were huge Razorback fans and held season tickets for ten years. She is remembered for taking care of family and putting others first. Dianna was a member of First Baptist Church in Benton for 50 years. She was a Christian woman and spent great time serving the Lord through the nursery ministry for 3 years; she was an absolute baby magnet everywhere she went.
Diane’s daughter, Courtney, was one of her biggest accomplishments. When Diane found out she wasn’t able to carry a child of her own (she and her husband tried for 10 years), Diane told Dennis to get rid of the Ski boat as they were going to have a baby girl. Her grandchildren were her life, and her biggest blessing. She lived in the same neighborhood for 48 years and all of the families grew old together. Her neighbor, Yvonne Cates was a bonus sister to her. Their unwavering friendship was the one the biggest blessings in her life. Dianna's daughter, grandchildren, grand-dog and family were the light and love of her life. Her commitment to her family and responsibilities were evident in all that she did.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 3, from 3:00-3:30 PM, followed by Memorial Service at 3:30 PM at Smith-Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market Street, Benton.
Dianna’s family and friends will forever hold her memory in their hearts, remembering her as the sweetest and most special lady who brought joy and love to all around her.
