Diane Joyce Ostrow Tidwell age 76 passed away peacefully May 23, 2023 in Conway, AR after battling a long illness, with her daughter and other loved ones by her side.
She was born in Little Rock on March 31, 1947. She attended Hall High School and had a brief stint at both Oklahoma University and Memphis State before coming home and starting a family. She was a lover of the outdoors and started her own landscape company where she met her great love, Gary. Together they built a business of Landscaping and Construction. After the physical demand of this job was no longer possible, she pursued another career as an Event Coordinator and Fund Raiser for non â profit organizations.
She worked and also volunteered raising money for the Little Rock Zoo, The Childrens Museum and Pinnacle Mountain State Park. She appreciated the importance of volunteering in her community.
This eventually led her to her true passion of Animal Rescue. She volunteered at Pulaski County Humane Society and served on the Board of Directors for CARE for Animals, Humane Society of Faulkner County and Out of the Woods Rescue. She was a huge endorser of any Spay and Neuter efforts!
Although she dabbled in many things like jewelry making and gardening, dogs were her true love and over the years had a houseful of rescue pups, Terrier and Chihuahua mixes being her rescue of choice.
She was incredibly smart with a great sense of humor. Honest and sometimes too direct she was also kind and extremely generous. She was a prodigious writer and her River Rat musings were beautiful and eloquent and often wickedly funny.
She loved her life in her log house on the Arkansas River that she and Gary designed and built and was terribly reluctant to leave. Her lively and lovely spirit will continue to sparkle in the hearts of the ones who loved and knew her so well.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Esther Ostrow, husband, Gary Tidwell and a menagerie of dogs.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Lori Mabry; adored son-in-law, Joe French; beloved âboysâ Tinker and Malcolm; her # 1 Spitfire girl, Mary Ishmael; partner in crime, Peg Wimberly; dearest friends and fellow River Rats, Celia and Mike Harkey and a host of other friends.
A celebration of her incredible life will be held at a later date. To honor her memory please consider donating to Companions Spay and Neuter Clinic, Out of the Woods Animal Rescue, ArkanPaws Animal Rescue or any other rescue group of your choice.
