Dewey Edgar Morris, age 92, formerly of Little Rock and Benton, passed away on Thursday morning, May 29, 2014 at Hospice Home Care in Little Rock.
He was born Aug. 4, 1921 near Kingsland, AR, the third child of Wiley and Ethel Morris. Dewey was a WWII veteran (U.S. Army/Europe/1941-1945) and retired from the U.S. Air Force. In his retirement years, he enjoyed transporting cars for various dealerships and going to Mtn. View to play his fiddle and guitar with friends. Always beside him was his beloved wife of 51 years, Mary.
He is preceded by his wife, Mary Poe Morris, who passed away Jan. 20, 2014, his parents and stepmother, Rosie Morris Barentine, and four siblings: Odell Morris, Reba Morris, Roy Morris, and Earl Morris.
He is survived by his son, Bill Poe of Marianna, daughter Glenda Lesher (Bill) of North Little Rock, Mary Joyce Gaut (Robert) of Clinton, Pamela Cox (John) of Benton, and Karen Poe of Mabelvale, 11 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Also brothers, Von (Willene) Morris of Star City and James Ray Morris of Sheridan and sisters, Reba Williams and Vera (James) Lanius of Grapevine, as well as extended family and friends who loved him.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Huson Funeral Home Chapel in Little Rock. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at Davis Cemetery in Grapevine, Arkansas.
