Denzil Navolt, Sr.

Denzil H. “Denny” Navolt, Sr., 84, of Romance, Arkansas, went to his final rest at his home on November 18th, 2024. He was a father, Navy man, engineer and proud member of the Susanville Indian Tribe. 

Denzil was born December 13th, 1939, to Charlotte & Otto Navolt in Cathlamet, Washington. He served in the Navy from 1956 to 1969 and was awarded four Bronze Stars Medals for his service in Vietnam, and one Bronze Star Medal for time in Cuba/Taiwan Straits. He also received a Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and a Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation. In 1975, he married the love of his life, Brenda Joyce Navolt and went on to have two children, John and Denzil H. Navolt, then later adopted one more Denzil E. Navolt. After being discharged, he started his career in heating and air conditioning and became assistant chief engineer for the Stardust Casino in Las Vegas. When he retired, he spent the rest of his time learning woodworking, watching TV with his dog Brutus and bringing joy to everyone around him. Denzil is survived by his wife Brenda Navolt; his brother Gary Ayres and sister Peggy Johnson. He is also survived by children from previous marriages, John A. Navolt, April Weldon, Douglas Navolt; and children from current marriage, Denzil H. Navolt Jr., John Navolt, Denzil E. Navolt and Jody Williamson. Finally, he joins his brothers Wayne D. Navolt and Thyer Turner in Heaven. 

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 22, 2024, at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, 404 W. Dewitt Henry Dr., Beebe, Arkansas, with funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Cremation arrangements by Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home.  www.smithfamilycares.com
