Dennis E. McElroy, 75. Of Lonsdale, was called to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 28, 2017 with his family surrounding him. Dennis was born June 23, 1942 to Joshua Earl & Mildred Leona (Fish) McElroy in Muscatine, Iowa.
Dennis was the proud owner and operator of Mac Trucks until his retirement. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. One of Dennis's greatest joy in life and reason for living was his loving four-legged children. His natural ability with animals was something very special.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and two brother-n-laws. He is survived by his loving wife of twenty-three years, Shirley Smith McElroy; his two daughters: Michele McFadden of Lonsdale and Angela Schafer and fiancé Eric McKenzie of Moline, IL; two step-daughters: Bobbie Torrence of Hot Springs; and Karla Glen of Alexander; one step-son: Scotty Dodson of Hensley, AR; ten Grandchildren and 12.5 Great-Grandchildren; sister: Linda Henke; brother: Loren McElroy and his wife Janet of Muscatine, Iowa; sister: Andrea Edwards of Lincoln, Missouri; and brother: Eric McElroy and his wife Pam of Muscatine, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends who love Dennis and will miss him always.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Smith-Benton Funeral Home Chapel, 322 N. Market Street, Benton, Arkansas. Funeral service, with Bro. Tom Haley officiating, will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 10:00 AM with burial following at Pleasant Cemetery in Avilla, Arkansas.
